Well just got back from South Dakota, had a blast, would like to go back again next year.
The guy that took me out there was a little disappointed in how we did, and I guess I was a little also.
He normally goes out in mid May, but because of some surgeries couldn't make it until the end of June.
It was very hot, windy, and the dogs had definitely been educated, but I still ended up killing 170 dogs, and shooting almost 300 rounds.
Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment, first picture is of the back of my vehicle and my equipment, next picture is of my work station, and lastly, a view of what I was out there for.
I have shot them in SD, WY, and NE. South Dakota was fine, although we were on a reservation and the license was actually kind of pricey. In Wyoming they are vermin, and no license is needed.
Bring bug spray in South Dakota. Not for the skeeters, but for the chiggers. Don't lay on any mounds (fleas), and bring a shooting mat or an old scrap of carpet to lay on while you shoot. Prepare to shoot up to 400 rounds of centerfire ammo. Bring plenty, as well a a backup gun. In 400 rounds, anything can happen to a gun. Plus...
Keep your ammo out of the sun.
Bring some cheese for the locals.
Bring good binos or a spotting scope.
Bring a coyote call and camo.
Have fun.
