Really depends on the water body and what size of pike you are trying to catch. Just like in the open water season I tend to catch most of my small-medium sized pike shallow over weeds with the bigger fish generally coming off the weed edge (the deeper the better) or on steep breaks and humps adjacent to deep water. In rivers/flowages I like big sloughs and flats with weeds and slow to no current. I personally have terrible luck ice fishing as opposed to casting but you gotta feed the addiction somehow. Good luck!

Shoreline breaks in 6 to 12ft, mainlake points and the deep weed edges are all good winter locations. It is also a good idea to run a bait just a foot or so under the ice. Many of the largest Pike in the system will cruise under the ice eating dead bait. There will be some differences depending on the lake you're fishing. The outside edges of large weed flats can be great for numbers of fish, however mainlake points, especially those with good cover on them, are typically some of the best locations for large Pike.

fish at depths you normally would that is to say deep water on sunny days  shallow on cloudy

in either case find the edge of the weeds or fish just above them
