I looked for a current thread on this subject, but there was none started.

My dilema, I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado pick up, the tach has not worked properly for about 6 months and now the speedometer does not work properly. I called the dealership, and he said I might need a whole new insturment cluster, that sounds costly. My question is this, is this the only way to fix it, and does anybody out there have or had a similar problem, and what did you do,

Thank you, Big Mac77

She also drives hard, tells me I drive like an old man. Anyway, I replaced the rotors and pads at 120K, it now has 140K so it'll last until I decided to get something else. I've owned a few 4 door sedans over the years, both Toyota, Buick and now this Honda Accord and would buy another Honda without question.

Polski how does your honda do on brake pads?  My wifes honda pilot has 80K miles and still hasnt needed brake pads.  Unbelievable considering she drives hard and most of our cars go thru brake pads overly quick.

Didn't need help today but wife's car wouldn't start. Jumped it with my truck and it fired up. Thought maybe just corroded cable connections. So cleaned them out and tried again...nope. So bought a new one from Menards, good to go.
Interesting note.  Her car is a 2014 Honda...1st factory battery lasted 6 years. Replacement Delco lasted 6 years. So I guess I'm good for the next 6.

As a side note, my original F150 2010 battery lasted 11 years, need another one like that.

I’ve bought many batteries from Fleet Farm over the years, car, truck, tractor and marine. Only had a couple that didn’t last through their warranty period and all but one of those only had a few months left. Those were tested and found bad. Got the prorated value off of a new one no questions asked. First thing they do with a suspected bad battery is charge it to test. Once I had one go bad in 4 months, it had full replacement for 12 months and was given a new one at no cost.

Regarding battery purchase at fleet farm... I returned one there after a few months it wouldn't hold a charge. The Auto Dept asked "Did you try to charge it??....I said yes, then he points to a display saying they dont warranty any battery if it was on a charger!

Walmart in the past has installed batteries for free if you purchased from them.
I've purchased batteries from them. Haven't had any issues with there product.
I kinda thought F&F did the same.

Buying a battery from a auto service and having them install could be quite expensive, Where you buy the battery makes a big difference in price also. O'Reilly's, auto zone, advance auto are all over priced stores.
If you want to save money and still get a quality battery, you could buy from Fleet Farm, Even if you don't feel comfortable or have the proper tools, ( some battery replacements can be challenging)   I believe Fleet Farm does battery replacements for around $20.00 labor, if you buy the battery from them.

Need a new battery for my truck. What, if any, are the benefits of buying one at a service station and having them install it versus buying one and installing it myself?

The test drive went good 15 miles, no problems. Hope it stays that way.

I just put the tools down minutes ago. I started with the intake manifold to get a better look at pcv, and when I was lifting it out, oil was pouring out of it. I would say about a 1/4 cup, maybe more. Looking at the valve after a little cleaning, it doesn't appear to all there as I suspected, so I picked up the manifold and valve cover kit, and I have installed it, and tomorrow will test it with my fingers 🤞
I have to resize the photos that I have. I'll be back

I work in a shop.
I think we have only seen 1 i believe where that valve in the manifold was gone.I know it can be a problem but just have not seen it.I know to really get a good look at it you need a camera stick to in the hole in the manifold.
It should take about an hour to put a valve cover on and they are not that expensive.

are you a mechanic, or have you had this problem or know someone who has?
This is not a sarcastic question. I'm just trying to get the most information I can about this problem.
I am probably going to start wrenching sometime this week.

The valve in the manifold can be a problem but it's usually a valve cover.
