I am looking to purchase a new utv but having a problem choosing between a John Deere 825i and Polaris Ranger xp 800. Can anybody tell me of any pro's or con's with the Deere or the Polaris machines. The price differ only by $300. I do know that the Deere is three cylinders vs two on the Polaris, HP is the same on both machines. Any input would be great help on my decision. Thanks

I have not been in the new Deere but I have a newer Ranger. The cab and engine is LOUD! Take them both out riding........I would never buy one with out doing that. If you are going to spend that kind of money they will get you out in one.

I would diffently go with the deere. not that the ranger is bad or anything but the deere is just leaving the ranger in the dust as performance goes. the deere might not go as fast but i guess its just preference over all the deere is just built better than the ranger bottem line is that if you want someing to beat the crap out of i would go with the deere

Listed top speed is 44 on the deere. I oversee the maintenance and operation of over 30 pieces of JD turf equipment most of which has over 4000 hrs on it. If you own a garden hose and a grease gun and use them regularly JD equipment will last longer than you want it too. The ranger is a nice machine but I was very impressed with the JD.

The new John Deere is far better than any Ranger. Go look them both over and ride them. Ranger used to set the standard for working utv's but they are now left in the dust.

Physicians and doctors are finding it necessary in finding the body meridian to be able to determine the actual balance of an individual. The work out of finding this center of intensity and balance for the person patients is done by the use of it known as the tuning fork. Tuning Forks

I was trying to make the same decision a few months ago and opted for the 825i the cab is alot nicer then anything they could order for the ranger and customer service is better with deere but the ranger has power steering and no speed limiter but im very happy with my decision so far

Have you looked at the Rhino or the Kubota UTV? I know the Kubota will be more expensive but I believe you get what you pay for. I am a Yamaha (snowmobiles & ATV) guy and always have been very happy with them.  Good luck with you decision.

Ranger over John Deere unless you don't have a polaris dealer around you locally you prefer and the john deere dealer you trust and is reliable.  The Ranger 500 on up is hard to beat in all around use.  Wish more used 500cc rangers were listed locally for sale but if they do come up used for sale, they usually want a pretty penny for them.

I have no experience with Deere, but it seems they have a strong reputation with everything they make, but always seem pricey. I have quite a bit of experience with the Ranger. I use one on a job that I work during the summer and fall. I run it through fields, sometimes worked up fields. It seems to be a very tough machine. It's the 500 EFI  model. Runs strong, great on fuel, plenty of power and a pretty smooth ride considering the terrain. The independent suspension all the way around helps a lot I suppose. I really like the electric AWD set up too. Very simple and quick responding system going from 2wd to 4wd.

I'm more familiar with ATVs than UTVs, though I did ride in a Polaris UTV a few times on an IL hunting property. It was fairly new & ran fine. I see guys get hung up with 'my machine can tow more' or other somewhat meaningless factoid. Since most of us won't tow to capacity, does it matter? To me long term mechanical reliability is of utmost importance. I don't like things breaking down for no good reason.

My 2002 Honda ATV has operated with zero issues since new. I have changed the plug 2 times since new, & fluids.  JMHO

Muskrat30 is there a main reason why the Polaris is at the bottom? I also look at a Prowler HDX. did not like it because of one cylinder and HP was less and cost $2000. more.

I don't know much about the Deere, but Polaris is usually towards the bottom of my list. Other choices?
