ATV Selinoid??

I have a 1987 Suzuki LT-F230 Quadrunner that I didnt pay much for but dont want to put much into either.I picked up a new battery for it today, hooked it up and .......nothing. I can pull start it with or without the battery hooked up but I get nothing when i hook up the battery. Battery is fully charged and it doesnt turn the lights on or anything. Buddy said it may be the selinoid but Im retarded when it comes to this mechanical stuff.

How hard is this to change out? If this is the issue...

 Im not mechanically inclined at all so any help that you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

 There is an item called a 'relay' that is often the cuprit when you have no elctrical with a good battery. I don't know where it would be on your machine but check into it. If you need one often times an auto parts store usually has one that will do. You can go to a service shop & ask them where to look if need be.
