Most Illinisians use spinners with the bobber tied 4' above, and add a colored rubber worm for good luck.

Just messing with you, good luck and dress warm, we had snow last night.

The only people that really use pontoon boats on that lake are FIBs if you know what I mean. The gills are plentifullbut slow down this time of year, but pick up once first ice hits,

Good Luck

Was up there in Aug. Fished musky for half day. No takers. I don't see any problem dropping a pontoon in the water at the landing. The ramp was in good shape. parking for maybe 12 rigs.

I'm headed up to Carrol with my sons mid-October and was wondering if anyone has been having any luck. Also, does anyone know if you can launch a pontoon boat from the public launch by the DNR campsites? Thanks!

Coming up again a week from Saturday with my fishing buddy, his son and one of the neighbor kids. Have not seen to much action on this thread. How has the fishing been? Had a great time back in July and can't wait to get back up there. Just looking for a nice relaxing weekend without the wife. Big Smile

Was up on Carroll Lake from 7/26-8/1. Was with out locator till Wednesday when my wife came up. Fishing was better earlier in the week, but not great. We where looking for the 10" perch we have caught in the past, but only caught a few of them with most in the 8-9" range. Gills ranged in the 7-8" range, bass (smallmouth) 10-14", and one 14" walleye. Most fish where taken in the 8-16 fow along the shore line area. Could not catch many in the 16+ depths in the mid lake areas. Most bass came off of the midlake hump towards the east island in 8-10 fow.

Late report but got up to Carroll from the 9th to the 13th. Had a real bad storm blow thur on Thursday but managed to stay dry. Could not believe how hard it rained.

As for the fishing we had a great time. Got enough bluegills and perch for a nice fish fry Sunday night. 10 to 12 feet of water with slip bobbers, crawlers or leaches. Both worked well. All the fish caught by my girls and wife. Both my girls also hooked into some bass but nothing to brag about.

Myself I caught a couple of bass in the 14 inch range and a few smaller. Didn't fish to hard as my main goal was to keep the kids on fish.

If anyone is looking to rent a boat around the Minoqua area I would suggest Good E Nuf boat rental. They do not have the newest boats but the one I rented ran like a champ and the prices are very reasonable. Straight up guy that runs the place and does not require a deposit. Delivered on time and picked up on time. If you do rent from him, please respect the fact that it is an on your honor system with reguards to no deposit. You do not find places like this too much anymore. Most places require a non-refundable deposit.

wrong hander,

You used the right hand on that day. What a dandy fish, and kudos to you for letting it go. Not that I would have been upset if you kept it(tempting). To each thier own. Thanks for the report. My 2 girls are really looking forward to getting out and going fishing. My youngest caught one just about that big on the Mississippi last summer. Should be a great week.

Bucket Mouth we fished Carroll Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday caught numerous amounts of Smallmouths and Largemouths. We caught a lot of Bluegills and some nice Perch all on leeches on slip bobbers on the 12' weed edges. Caught this nice Largemouth that was 21 1/2" that was released.

Nobody been on this body of water? I find that had to believe. I know someone must have been out. What gives? Just looking for some basic info. Nothing specific. Other then a few panfish for a shore lunch everything will be catch and release.

Carroll Lake access is open and the fishermen are busy. Landing is good, car, truck, ATV traffic all over the place. Caution : There is very little parking space in the parking area - the lot is still full of cut trees. However there is plenty of ice to park on. The bite is ON??
