Fished yesterday afternoon with a buddy for cats and got 7. 5 were very nice fish that put up a heck of a fight while 2 were just average eaters. The biggest one was 9 lbs. and the other 4 good ones were all over 6 up to 8. Used Sonny's. Tried cut bait and got a couple bumps but no real takers. We were fishing a spot I normally try for flats but all my other channel cat spots were not producing at all. Maybe this river gets more cat pressure than I am aware of. Hmm. Anyway, tight lines all!!

Bowfin aka Dogfish same thing!! They have barbels just like carp do. Color depends on what water they come out of. Sometimes they are almost black, chartruse, light green, and almost a silver color. All depends on the water clarity, weeds and oxyogen level of the watershed.

I caught something that looked like a dogfish, several small barbels, but it was green, not brown and had no mark near tail.
I've caught them in the Rock near Fort before and thought they were eelpout, but when I looked up eelpout they're mottled and have a different kind of tail.
Any thoughts? I assume some kind of burbot. Thanks.

Went fishing 8-26-2010, for about 6 hours. Caught three white bass. the whites are gone, still some hanging around. use gulps alives to catch all three, flies and minnows were not hitting. But you'll never know, everyday is a different day. didn't see anybody catch any catfish, but seen alot of sheep heads getting caught. if you ask me, it not worth traveling there for one or two white bass.

Anyone know how the bite is today? I'm headed there later this evening and was wondering if I was going to catch anything or not.

The Water near the dam was pretty high the past few weeks and there were tons of bait fish around, those are pretty good conditions for the white bass. I know when I caught my cats there around that time the post about the bass was put on here there was a guy there that gave my friends a bucket full of them. he was using them for catfish cutbait. Besides that, the post told where the fish were, not about how big of a fish he lost. So he was not stretching the truth about useful information. Wouldn't make a lot of sense for someone to lie about where the fish are biting. These are after all "Fishing Reports".

Guys aren't lieing bout the whites...I was there last Friday and they were killing them. I only got seven but there were two groups getting them an live minnows which I didn't have. My buddys went out wed and thursday before I did and got a cooler one day and two the next. They even got a couple of nice eyes and cats mixed in. Live minnows and gulp were the baits.
We went and tried early morning yesterday by dam because we were heading to Fort and didn't get nothing in a half hour so we went and launched my boat under the 26 bridge in Fort. Glad we did because we ended up with 3 coolers of whites mixed in with yellow bass. With the weather I didn't believe the whites would bite but after a lot of texts I got from friends, glad we decided to check it out. All were caught on flies, live minnows and gulp minnows.
with all the high and fast moving water there was when we were all catching them maybe you guys should have tried it. with the amount of bait fish swimming around in there i wasnt surprised that they were there. we used to catch them all summer long when the water was low in the rock in front of the dam. as long as there is food for them and a little moving water how can you expect that there isnt any fish around? ignorance is one fault many ppl have. maybe you should not be so fast to call others liers until you see for yourself. the water is even with the wall now and since the water went down the fishing has slowed with it.

hey could anyone tell me if there would be any action up river from the dam between creek & jefferson just wanting to get the boat out & try it
White bass are schooled up under the dam right now. Fished for a hour and a half toady and kept 17 that were 14 to 17 inches. a plain hook with minnow and split shot took most of the fish and a few on twisters. When you stand on the top by the railing throw out down along the current edge and a slow retrieve they will slam it.
