How is the water level so far on Butternut? Wondering if the concrete ramp on the South end is still a good access for launching.

Yeah I know where the eagles nest is. I saw your post after I asked you. Yeah we usually go out by the island in mcKinley bay. Last year my dad went up again after we got back and just killed the smallies! Some guys should him some spots and he was catching some big ones i guess. I havent gotten any through the ice, just walleyes, northens and perch. We are headn up around the third maybe ill see out there!
Tight lines.

See my post from 1/27/09 below. I have also been fishing Butternut for 20+ years. I will be heading back up again some time before New Years. Trying to work out the dates with my fishing partner. I usually fish the humps East of the island. Out in front of the "Eagles nest" I'm sure you know where that is. Did you guys ever do any good on smallies through the ice? Never have caught one myself. Good luck!
Any ice reports would be appreciated.

Stein Hunter,
Yeah, im pretty sure that Ray and Hildy are still up there. My dad and I have been going up there forever. Last year it was extremely cold, we were up there, if you scroll down, the posts from Perch boss thats me, I just forgot my password. That wallye was 28 1/2" about nine pounds. When were u up there last year? Any luck?

Hey Josh.
I'm heading up for the New Years weekend. Last years run was blizzard conditions and so cold the tip ups wouldn't trip. I'm curious if Ray and Hildy are still around Cody's? Spent many weekends in the past camping or renting cabins. Has anyone stayed at Riepenhoff's for ice fishing? I'm also looking for ice conditions.
Good Luck!

Sorry this is not a Fishing Report but a request for help.
I was up the week of 6/29 (the week of extremely cold weather)!
I know this is a long shot but I lost my son's Wiley X Sunglasses on my way out from the launch. My son was on leave from the Marines and these glasses were military issued. I was going to try them out to see if I liked them.

By reading the other thread, it sounds like Franklin's water level is WAY down. Is Butternut also running a very low water level? If so, approximately how low is it? What is the situation at the southbay boatlanding, etc.? Thanks for any info provided!

Also if anyone knows of any lodging on Butternut or Franklin other than Franklin Lake Campground, it would be much appriciated... Just post any info on fishing reports page or im me. Thanks>>>
