"Come for the walleyes not the crowds"

Big Island Camp Welcome to Big Island Camp, near the northern Ontario community of Grassy Narrows, 45 miles north of Kenora in northwest Ontario. A fishing camp that offers self catering cabins. The camp consists of a main log lodge and six cabins. We have accommodations for groups 2 to 20. Each cabin has solar lights, and running water. There is a hot shower, fish cleaning shed, and a floating dock. As a boat-in housekeeping camp you are free to come and go as you want. Eat, sleep, and fish all when you want. (Isn't that what your vacation should be all about?)

The camp offers excellent Ontario fishing with your own boat! There are miles of unspoiled Canadian wilderness that is yours to explore. Enjoy catching walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, muskie, and lake trout in Ontario's sunset country.

The Big Island Camp is located right in the heart of the famous english river system. The river's marinas are an hours drive north of Kenora Ontario followed by a half hour boat ride out to the camp. The river system itself is a chain of lakes that extends 45 miles in length from Maynard Falls all the way down river to Separation Rapids. The whole 45 miles of this waterway is filled with islands, bays, fast water stretches, humps, and mutilple types of structures. This is a fishery known for producing walleyes in numbers as well as trophies.

The Plan:

Drive to boat-in house keeping (self catering)
Includes: Cabin, fridge/freezer, running water, eating utensils, docking, screened fish cleaning shed with running water, full sized propane gas stoves for cooking, hot shower, solar lights, fish deep fryer, outhouses, BBQ grills, 2 fire pits, and a deck with permanent seats at water’s edge for everyone to enjoy.

You Supply:

The following: Boat, motor and gas, tackle, personal gear, garbage bags, fishing license, cooler or ice chest, sleeping bags, and groceries (we have several large grocery stores in Kenora where you can purchase whatever you need.)

Yes, you can buy gas for your personal outboard at the marina.

Things to Remember:

We ask that you leave a neat and tidy cabin at the end of your stay. Government regulations must be obeyed. Guests who utilize electric trolling motors, and have to charge batteries are advised to bring a small generator. First time groups can set up an arrival time with Dan at the marina to meet and go out to the camp.
