Water levels are low this year, but fish (all sizes) are there. Excellent SM/LM bass fishing has been a pleasant surprise the last few weeks - not where they usually are though. Musky are also hitting! Anyone for catfish?! Only one problem fishing this flowage... its huge! You really should hire a guide the first time you go. GOOD LUCK!

Definately a wide-range, varied species lake. If its quantity, not quality you are after Petenwell will please you. Large fish are absent and water levels can be aggravating.

Petenwell used to be a 5 star lake many years ago and has gone down hill ever since. The fishing pressure and water level die offs, have hurt the fisheries greatly. You'll fish long and hard for a 5 fish limit of walleyes over 15 inches. There are fish advisiories on all species of fish from here as they are very contaminated. Full of Dioxins and PCB'S. I have fished this water for over 45 years and have seen it's decline. If you'd like any other information on this lake please feel free to contact [email protected]
