Fowler, we need you back there! Most of the bogs were on the side but one large one was near the end of the channel. We were able to get around it but ended up getting in very shallow water. 

Good memories reading about BM and the stray bogs. Probably easily 40 yrs ago I worked for the Nest, HS summer job. Sam the owner had me pushing bogs out of the channel all the time. Obviously present day owners didnt follow suit of the task. 
As a kid, I had fun doing it.  

Channel status at Hunters. And is there still slime adhering to the standing weeds on the big lake? Thanks

Agree Granddad, they told me they rely on private people to just drag them out. When you pay for the launch you would expect them to keep it open.

I have been launching there for over 40 years and the past 3 or so have been the worst! When you pay for a launch  You would think the Owners could find someone to keep the channel open!Just a common courtesy for you customers!

Sswpriz, thanks for the reply. I know the risk is still there with it getting blocked. I can walk from Boxhorn back to the launch if needed as my back up plan. The Durham launch is too shallow. I have a 16.5 foot with a 40 on it. I did launch there yesterday and I could see a path going out to the lake so I went for it. It's just a closer launch than Boxhorn and my boat doesn't get scratched up with the pier at Boxhorn. Not sure how many people have experienced the wake boat on Bass Bay. I tried to stay away from him and he came between me and the shore. Had to get down in the boat so I didn't get thrown out. There is no reason for that type of boat in such a small body of water. I had to leave the water. Anyway, the fishing was good once again. 

Bullman, that happened to me once out there at hunters nest, wide open in the morning when we launched , wind picked up and about 3 hours later, we struggled to get back to the launch, took me about 15 minutes of powering thru the bog on one side, once I got home, i put the muffs on the motor and pumped a lot of clean water thru the motor, because you know I was pumping mud at one point. I have not been back there since, for two reasons, no pier, and at our age, its getting hard to crawl into the boat from the shore,  #2, you never know when that channel will close up, what would you do if you couldn't get in ?????

Went out of Hunters Nest yesterday and found a number of bogs in the channel   but was able to get through. The wind picked up a little during the morning and when I returned one of the bogs had drifted into the open channel. I was able to work at pushing the bog over to get by but I would not suggest utilizing this launch until they remove them. Fishing was pretty decent for panfish, even caught enough keepers for a meal.

During the past week or so, a person who launched at Boxhorn left an item on the shore when packing up and leaving.  I know I would like it back. Use Lake-Link to tell me exactly what is the item left behind, and I will find a way to return it to you.
