Hit the water for a few hours last night, water temp was 64-75!!! Managed a few small bass and switched over to a beer in one hand with a slip bobber rig in the other. Kept 10 bluegill for the pan all around 8". They are shallow over what remaining weeds are left. Saw a few big pike as well, but no action there either. Was hoping to catch a few crappies, but I guess I'm not good enough for that yet. Dock is in at the boy scout launch.

Got out last night from 4:30-8:30pm. Jigged with two tip ups out. Few flags before sunset, but nothing to show. Jigging provided a few fish on a 5mm tungsten and plastic. Caught 3 crappies all roughly 10” (my first ever as well from Ripley) a nice bluegill, one LM bass, and a rock bass after dark. Bite is starting to heat up! FYI the bait shop is out of shiners, but will be getting more this week!
Fished tip ups in 5-12’ this weekend from dawn to 11 pm. 4 flags with 2 coming off at hole. No fish to show. Heard of a few crappie biting as well, but not in numbers. Bite seems tough, but we will continue to fish different areas. I suspect the bite should be getting better with the warmer weather.
Fished for 2 hours after work yesterday. Managed one 14” walleye while fishing for bluegill. Gills were finickey, but I was also too lazy for a color change. Fished 8-10’ with no weeds. Just finished up college and glad to be back in town! Will be spending more time on Ripley and Rock in the coming weeks so be on the lookout for my reports.
Any one doing any good? How is the ice??
I'm not from Illinois :D. Thanks and good luck out there.
Yes stay in Illinois
Can anyone tell me please, has either boat ramp area been plowed/cleared for parking? Also, is there any fee for parking? Thank you.
Any news on the ice?
