Tacoeye, Hard to believe that I was worried about enough water for the fish to get into the marshes now. I hope Ma nature didn't overdo it. By the way I quit collecting sap at 681 gallons. I just collect for my son.

These are some historic water levels, never before seen for generations. Not sure how this will affect the spawn, but it is certainly saving a pile of fish right now. It will be interesting to see if this will flush those post spawn males, or they will hold even longer with all the added food. River is basically unfishable for now though.
G’pa, to answer your question, very much so! I am kind of laughing at this, but yes we had 26”of ice on lake metonga march 3rd in Crandon , however the edges softened since , u can walk out , possibly atv? Not sure I haven’t been out , also did u notice the masssive blizzard that just hit the state …. We got 32” in Crandon during it and 6 days prior we got 12” in one night so there’s a total of 40” on the ground …. Slowly giving way.. be patient the melt off is coming and the maple sap is flowing !
Partly Sunny 50°
Water: 52°
Last several days has seen the bite turn on as the water warms into the low 50’s. Fish being caught drifting and anchored. Saw a few fish caught by guys throwing crankbaits as well. Minnows are still producing lots of bites, but the transition to a preference for night crawlers won’t be long. Straight aways seem to be producing the most fish.
