Asylum Bay (Lake Winnebago)

I got a chill seeing the open spots Shorebird showed. Years ago I hoofed it out from the lot by the lighthouse. I headed toward the closest group to the south, easy going on a slushy snowmobile trail. I crashed thru and hit sand bottom standing in water up to my armpits not far from the open spots shown on the video. Tossing my stuff back I clawed out back on to the ice and took the walk of shame back to my car and the ,heat on high, trip back to Green Bay. The folks I was headed to had wisely walked out there from the thicker ice inside Asylum Bay.

I used to live off Greenwood court I would walk up my channel and go out towards the small Island and catch nice bluegills and Perch . most water in area is 4 to 5 ' with it getting 8' closer to the Island . Take Mallard street to Hazel street to deadend and walk to right about 200 yards .Try shallows too they have many weedy spots that hold nice fish . Hope this helps 

I now reside in Florida but am back for visit. I am in my 70's. Have not icefished in 13 years. Would like to try tomorrow at Asylum Bay. My son in law who has not ice fished alot is taking me out.
Any reports on where to go. I got out my old equipment and have jig poles, and Swedish Pimple jigs.
What should I get for bait? Used to use wax worms. 
Someone please respond and help me out.

Fished this morning.  Measured 10 in clear ice plus another inch of frozen slush.  Just enough snow on the ice to make travel easy.  Lots of atv's and snowmobiles out.

Fished 8 fow in the bay.  Lots of dinks, no size.  Saw lots of guys out.  The way everyone was moving around I'd guess they were having the same luck as me.
