What aquatic invasive species are found in Lawrence Lake?
There are some aquatic invasive species found in Lawrence Lake including Eurasian watermilfoil.

Join us in the fight to prevent the spread of invasive species These sneaky creatures can hitch a ride on boats, clinging onto propellers, anchor lines, and trailers. They can even survive in hidden places like bilge water and ballast tanks, or disguise themselves in dirt and sand that sticks to nets, buckets, anchors, and waders. But don't worry, we have the power to stop them in their tracks with just a few simple steps. So let's do our part and protect our waters from these unwanted invaders.

History & Status of the Fishery

While larger gamefish such as Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass seem to provide some decent fishing on Lawrence, panfish tend to be on the small side. And although not stocked directly into Lawrence, a walleye catch of 1.8/gill net suggests they may be migrating in from connected Roosevelt and could provide the occasional opportunity to catch one. Average size of these Walleyes was 18.8" and all the fish were over 15".

The Northern Pike catch was average for this type of lake (3.8/gill net), with a good average length of 26.3". Lakes in this area of the state have a 22-26" protected slot, however, 43% of the fish captured were longer than 26". Largemouth Bass were sampled by night electrofishing at the rate of 72.0/hour and 53% of these were over 12" with the largest being 18".

Panfish numbers were typical for this type of lake. Bluegill were caught at the rate of 14.0/trap net and Black Crappie at 1.9/trap net. However, only 8% of the Bluegill were over 7" and 22% of the Black Crappie were over 8".
