I would rate this fishery as excellent. Lots of shelves, very steep dropoffs, weeds, downed trees, all kinds of cover. Water is gin clear, except during the height of boat season. The lake is aggressively managed by the DNR. Cass has good populations of walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and northern pike - besides the usual panfish. Fish are average to above average in size. Fish hit on all kinds of baits but I had the best luck trolling drop-offs with shad raps and other crank baits. I lived on and fished this lake for many years. I rarely got skunked. It's not all that uncommon to catch several smallmouth in the 3-4lb range and pike to 30". My only complaint is that this lake is BUSY. It's unreal. From memorial day to labor day, forget it.
