Mississippi River Pools 16-19: River stages are low so use caution when boating. Main channel water temperature is around 79 degrees and water clarity has been fair. If you have questions on fishing Pools 16-19 of the Mississippi River contact the Fairport Fish Hatchery at 563-263-5062.

Bluegill - No Report: With the low water conditions look for bluegills around brush piles in the flowing side channels. Some times bluegills can also be found on the wingdams during low water conditions.

Channel Catfish - No Report: Channel catfish can be caught fishing brush piles and snags along the main channel and side channels. Channel catfish can also be caught fishing above the wingdams. Try using stinkbaits, nightcrawlers, or cut shad.

Tailwater stage at Lock and Dam 16 in Muscatine is 2.96 feet and falling. Water levels are low so use caution when boating.

Walleye - No Report: Look for walleyes on the wingdams. With the low water levels walleyes will most likely be on the outer tips of wingdams. Try using three-way rigs with crawlers or casting crankbaits.

Largemouth Bass - No Report: Look for largemouth bass around brush piles and snags along the main channel and side channels with the low water conditions.

Tailwater stage at Lock and Dam 16 in Muscatine is 2.47 feet. Water levels are low so use caution when boating.

Channel Catfish - No Report: Channel catfish can be caught fishing brush piles and snags along the main channel and side channels. Channel catfish can also be caught fishing above the wingdams. Try using stinkbaits, nightcrawlers, or cut shad.

Walleye - No Report: Look for walleyes on the wingdams. With the low water levels walleyes will most likely be on the outer tips of wingdams. Try using three-way rigs with crawlers or casting crankbaits.

Tailwater stage at Lock and Dam 16 in Muscatine is 3.40 and had been falling slightly the past few days. Floodstage is 15 feet. River stage at Muscatine is 5.37 feet and floodstage is 16 feet.
