Lakes in the southwest district are averaging 6 to 9 inches of ice. The warm windy weather is beginning to erode the ice. For information on lakes in the Southwest District call the Cold Springs office at (712) 769-2587.

Black Crappie - Slow: There is a small population of large black crappies in Littlefield.

Bluegill - Slow: Bluegill fishing is good around any of the cedar tree piles in the lake. Sorting is necessary for the larger fish.

Littlefield has 10 inches of ice.

Black Crappie - Slow: There is a small population of large black crappies in Littlefield.

Bluegill - Slow: Bluegill fishing is good around any of the cedar tree piles in the lake. Sorting is necessary for the larger fish.

Littlefield has 12 inches of ice.

Bluegill - Fair: Cast the north shoreline to find spawning bluegills. Fish will averaged 8.5 inches.

Channel Catfish - No Report: Winterkill removed most of the channel catfish in Littlefield.

DNR fishery staff did an electrofishing survey on Littlefield this spring. Numerous Largemouth bass, bluegill and black crappie were sampled. Restocking of these species will not be necessary. Channel catfish will be restocked this fall in the lake.

DNR fishery staff did an electrofishing survey on Littlefield this spring. Numerous Largemouth bass, bluegill and black crappie were sampled. Restocking of these species will not be necessary. Channel catfish will be restocked this fall in the lake.

Bluegill - Fair: The bluegills in the DNR survey looked good and averaged 8.5 inches. Anglers can find a few bluegills spawning now.
