Fishing conditions have improved on eastern Iowa streams, lakes and rivers during this past week with cooler temperatures and dry weather.

Channel Catfish - Fair: Fishing has slowed for catfish but the average size caught is large

Bluegill - Good:

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Fishing has been best in shallow areas

Interior rivers continue to drop and are providing some great angling opportunities. Lakes in and around the Cedar Falls/ Waterloo area have been fair for largemouth bass and panfish. Trout streams are in excellent condition. All fish hatcheries remain closed, for further information contact the N.E. District Office at 563-927-3276.

Reports have been excellent for bluegill and channel catfish and fair on largemouth bass.

Bluegill - Excellent: Cast a piece of nightcrawler underneath a bobber for some good bluegill action, morning and evenings been best.

Channel Catfish - Excellent: Stinkbaits, nightcrawlers and leopard frogs fished on the bottom of the lake has been really good for channel catfish.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Both crankbaits and top water artificial baits has been really good for largemouth bass.

Interior rivers are on a slow rise and are providing some great angling opportunities. Lakes in and around the Cedar Falls/ Waterloo area have been fair for largemouth bass. Trout streams are in excellent condition. All fish hatcheries remain closed, for further information contact the N.E. District Office at 563-927-3276.

Anglers are catching largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish on Casey Lake. Some sorting may be needed on bluegill and crappie and catfish angling has been best early morning or late evening.

Bluegill - Good: Fish a small piece of worm under a bobber with a small splitshot sinker and small hook.

Interior rivers continue to drop and are providing some catches of smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and channel catfish. Lakes in and around Cedar Falls/Waterloo area are providing some catches of primarily largemouth bass. Trout streams remain in excellent condition. All three trout hatcheries remain closed, for further information call the N.E. District Office at 563-927-3276.
