Interior rivers are dropping and clearing up now from recent rainfall activity. There have been reports of anglers catching crappie and walleye on both the backwater and main channel areas. Lakes around Black Hawk County have been providing catches of largemouth bass. For further information contact local bait shops or the N.E. District Office at 563-927-3276.

Anglers have been catching largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish in Casey Lake.

Largemouth Bass - Good: Try casting topwater baits or crankbaits for good largemouth bass action.

Bluegill - Fair: Try casting a small piece of crawler under a slip bobber for bluegill. Adjust bobber at various depths to locate fish.

Channel Catfish - Good: Mornings and evenings have been best for channel catfish. Try stink baits, cutbaits or leopard frogs on the bottom.

Interior rivers are maintaining adequate levels with the recent isolated thunderstorms and are still providing good angling opportunities. Fishing has slowed down on area lakes as we are in the middle of summer doldrums. Black Hawk county lakes are providing some largemouth bass angling opportunities. Interior rivers are producing some catches of smallmouth bass, pike and channel catfish. For further information contact your local area bait shops.

Channel Catfish - Good: Fish on the bottom using stink bait, dead cut baits or fresh chicken livers for channel catfish. The old beach area is a popular spot for anglers.

Channel catfish continue to bite well on Casey Lake. Largemouth bass and bluegill are only biting fair.

Anglers are catching bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass and channel catfish out of Casey Lake. Fishing mid afternoon to late evening has been the best.

Interior rivers bumped up with isolated rainfall events but are still providing some fair to good angling opportunities for smallmouth bass, walleye and channel catfish. Rivers should be in good condition for the upcoming weekend. Lakes are beginning to produce some crappie. Trout streams are in excellent condition and providing some insect hatches with the warmer weather. For further information contact your area bait and tackle shops.

Black Crappie - Good: Fish over structure in three to five foot of water using colored tube jigs or crappie minnow under a slip bobber.

Bluegill - Good: Fish a piece of crawler under a bobber or casting a light jig as bluegill are beginning to move on spawning beds.

Largemouth Bass - Good: Try casting crank baits or spinner baits off of the jetties or the dam for largemouth bass.

Channel Catfish - Good: Fish off of the bottom using night crawlers, stink baits or leopard frogs for some good catfish bites.
