Interior rivers remain low and in excellent condition for angling opportunities. Walleye and smallmouth bass have been biting well on plastics this past week. The lakes in and around Black Hawk County have been slow. Both North Prairie Lake and Heritage Pond were stocked with rainbow trout three weeks ago. Trout streams are in excellent condition. For further information contact your local baits shops for the most up-to-date information.

Black Crappie - Fair: Try fishing a minnow underneath a slip bobber around structure in that 8'-12' foot of water.

Reports are anglers have been catching crappie and channel catfish out of Casey Lake.

Channel Catfish - Fair: Anglers are catching channel catfish off of the jetties fishing leopard frogs off of the bottom.

Trap nets set and collected two weeks ago on Casey Lake captured good numbers of black crappie of good size. Reports are anglers doing well on the crappies using minnows.

Black Crappie - No Report: Try locating structure within the lake fishing a minnow under a slip bobber of vertical jigging with jigs in 8-12 foot of water.

Interior rivers here in N.E. Iowa are currently falling and in excellent shape, anglers are reporting catches of walleye, smallmouth bass and channel catfish. Trout streams are in excellent condition across NE Iowa. Area Black Hawk county lakes have been slow for panfish and largemouth bass.

Anglers have been catching a few channel catfish after dark in Casey Lake. Bluegill fishing has picked up recently.

Channel Catfish - Excellent: Fish off of the old beach area and to the west using stink baits, livers, leopard frogs or dead cut baits fished on the bottom. After dark or early morning has been the most productive.

Bluegill - Good: Try fishing a piece of nightcrawler underneath a slip bobber for success.

Largemouth Bass - Good: Top water baits or spinner baits has been the most productive for bass.
