Interior river levels remain low and anglers have been catching walleye, smallmouth bass and channel catfish. Trout streams are low and clear across northeast Iowa so consider fishing during low light conditions and approach streams carefully to avoid disturbing wild fish. Anglers are having success on bluegill, black crappie, largemouth bass and channel catfish on Hickory Hills Lake.
Bluegill - Good: Fish a small jig with a piece of crawler under a slip bobber at various depths to locate fish.
Black Crappie - Fair: Locate structure using electronics and jig colored tube jigs at various depths to locate fish, the south corner of the dam has been really good for crappie.
Channel Catfish - Good: Mornings and evenings have been best for channel catfish.
Largemouth Bass - Good: Anglers have been catching bass on most everything thrown at them; spinners, crankbaits and top water baits.
