Looked at Davis Park - all fenced along the river - no place to sit and fish? wanted to fish above the dam for cats.

Smallie fishing has been great when you find them. Twice found them shallow and every cast they would pound my swim baits. Largest was 18" most were 16". This went on for at least 20 fish. Both times sun was high in the sky.

To the last poster, flooded conditions are when I do my absolute best on the river. Been spot hopping a lot and flipping texas rigged creature baits and absolutely tearing them up. ALL backwater areas have been on fire, lots and lots of largemouth from 12" up to 17", lots of smallies as well with the biggest being 18" caught on a pearl bandit footloose at the mouth of river keys. When the waters up, take advantage of flooded timber, backwater areas, and the mouths of backwater areas. Also, came across a lot of decent sized (12"-14") white bass busting shad in a couple backwater areas. Casted a mepps for an hour or so and caught a bakers dozen. Get at em while they're hot!!

P.s.Got after em from shore with home owners permission where needed, just had to knock and be respectful...

The bill has moved on to the environment committee again if you are opposed to this bill you need to call and let everyone know .http://www.ilga.gov/senate/committees/members.asp?committeeID=766 click on the names to get there numbers.Act dont be surprised if you dont by this bill. There studies were not conducted in Illinois and we do not have signifcant populations of birds it can affect.Alternatives are costly and will come out of our pocket with no effect on the waterfoul population.Dont take there word for it look into it yourself!
