@NukeFish I have only fished it the last couple winters. I have not heard that and it gets a lot of pressure. I have only caught two keeper gills from there. The rest dinks. I have seen many people catch and keep fish. Not sure where contamination would come from other than farm run off from back side, but it is all swamp pretty much and floods every year when the river rises.

I’ve heard on a Facebook group I’m in that this water is polluted/contaminated and not to eat fish from here. What is your guys opinion on this

I think I fished there along time ago. I googled it.I've drove through there before when out mushroom hunting.Does anyone know if the oxbow at trask bridge acccually connects to the river.Sure don't look like it on the map but it must because the water levels go up and down when the river goes up and down.Have you ever caught anything out of the pec wetlands oxbows?

Got on no problem. Water is  low. You can see where ice was attached 18" or so up the bank before. It has refrozen at current level, no soft shore or gap. Just alight open spot by the spring at shore behind house on the side by the road. I never found over4' of water and nary a bite in about 10 holes. A gut walking on when I was leaving said they caught some nice crappies on back side yesterday. I had no electronics as my Marcum is back to them for repair. I also drove down to Pecatonica Wetlands Preserve and walked out on the first oxbow closest to the road. 6" or more ice but no more than 2' of water under ice in the holes I drilled in numerous places.

Did the backwater go up?

Were you able to get on the ice with no problem?

I fished Trask this morning. The parking lot is snow packed/icy. I did not look at the ramp. The Pec was completely locked with ice in Harrison.

Thanks for comments. I may launch my kayak at Macktown Saturday. I know Rock will be open just a matter if Im dodging ice shelves floating down Pec like i was a couple weeks ago. Long drive for me so comments are appreciated. Have gone to the Pec before and have found myself hitting Rock instead when Pec was hectic.
