Fished the slips this past weekend from 6:30am till 10am. The 87th slip was pretty empty with the recent snow fall and cool down but did this effect the perch in anyway? Well, there was only one way to find out. So I made trek out there for my third time this year with the past two times being skunked.
Started my fishing session right before the sun came up and I could bearly see my rod tips. From 6:30am till about 8am, I had decent action and size. It was a fun time being on the perch again and as soon as 8:00 am hit, it just turned off for some reason that I'll never know. I was catching them on perch pounders with minnows and funny enough I had a mixture of both minnows and rosy reds and they wanted nothing to do with the rosy reds on this day. I continued to fish from 8:00 am till 10:00 am and the only person that was catching was a guy who was heavily jigging plastics and that was it.
Maybe I'll make it out again but I'm hoping next week's freeze will finally setup some ice to go do some ice fishing!
Until then, tight lines.
