Who's got one ? what are you growing ? and how's it coming along? Mine consists of sweet corn , cabbage , brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli ,cucumbers, zucchini, peas, tomatoes , peppers , acorn squash, pumpkins, and assorted spices. The cold wet weather hasn't been very conducive to good growth so far for me. But with warmer weather in the forecast things should turn out. I hope those of you growing fair better.

Got my pole bean trellis strung up.

Actually,  nitrogen promotes the above ground top growth.  Phosphorus and potassium make the roots grow big. People who put too much nitrogen on their lawns have weak root systems that leave the grass prone to certain diseases.  I used to have a lawn maintenance company back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Too much nitrogen?    Nitrogen promotes root growth.

Fish & Jaybee: I get them to grow, that's not an issue.  But what I all I get is a straight root, no radish.  One year I let them grow, they got about 2 ft' tall.  Still just a root.  That's happened too many times.

I finally have one garden fully planted, plus my buckets and grow bags that are on the grill patio.  In the one garden I have 8 tomato plants, 5 pepper plants, a couple rows of lettuce, couple rows of onions, and 2 rows of potatoes.  My newest garden has 3 rows of onions, 4 cucumber plants, and a row of carrots.  Still quite a few things left to plant and I haven't even started green beans yet!

Maybe I'll try that, skillz! My wife loves radishes.  Nice that you take care of mom, Arthur

I bought one large container tomato plant in addition to the dozen normal seedlings I usually buy. It had four tomatoes on it when I bought it 3 weeks ago. Picked one today. Will take the next one to my 97 year old mom. She looks forward to fresh tomatoes from the garden.

Sorry about those early radishes,  Junkie. Those miscommunications with the wimmin,  sheesh.  Dont get me started.
Igor- plant those radishes as early as possible,  they can't stand heat. Mixing some sand in to make the dirt loamy also helps. Also, I put 13-13-13 fertilizer on to promote root growth

Igor - too high of nitrogen in your soil is generally the cause of good green growth but no bulb. Supplement with a high phosphorous fertilizer to help with bulb growth.

I'm jealous JB - my wife did our initial planting of radishes, lettuce, spinach and weeds took over the lettuce/spinach. I had her till up those patches but we miscommunicated and she tilled up the radishes too. So my first planting still has a week or so to go and with these temps, I don't think I'll get a second planting this year. Radishes are hands down my favorite too!

Jaybee: What's your secret with the radishes?  Used to plant them every year and the grew, by never really produced a "Radish".  Just the root.  Any help would be appreciated because I love them.

Thanks.

Picked the last of the radishes planted April 7th. I've found they get split and woody in the summer, so i won't plant any more till fall. Planted a little dill in place of the radishes. It'll be ready just in time for canning season

Yup, the stuff I use to tie my tomatoes is a stretchable plastic kind of stuff.  Some of it I leave on my tomato cages and use it year after year until it's too small or it no longer stretches. Over time the stuff gets  hard due to weathering.  But I do love the stuff because you can tie it pretty tight to the tomato and as it grows the stuff will stretch and not hurt the plant.

Wish I could find something like that that would decompose easily, I hate having to take it all off in the fall!
