Getting to the end of the line with our grey cat. Her procedure for hyper thyroid went really well. She put on about 2 pounds, fast and was returning to "normal".
Then we noticed her eating less and not being as active.
Took her to the vet, chronic kidney disease. Not bad yet, so we can treat it.
Did an ultrasound....masses in her intestines. Enlarged lymph nodes.
We learn what we can do after the holiday.
But we don't have much time. Time to love on the critter harder than normal and we will NOT let her suffer.
I really hoped and wished that we would have had more time to give her a nice elderly cat home for a few years.
She's turning 15. Was really hoping for 18-20.
God, I hate this feeling.

Thanks all.
Still expecting to see Ozzie, it's funny how your brain has split seconds where it forgets he's gone (after 20 years)...
Like when you call the kitties for dinner...
The vet that we took him to sent a card the other day that had Ozzie's paw print on it, that was a nice thing to do.

There isn't a one less cat in the house thread, so I'll post this here.
My wife and I had to put down Ozzie this morning, our cat of 20 years.
He had been losing a little bit each week for the last couple of months, wasn't eating much, and overall declining. We didn't want to see him suffer, so made the hard decision to take him to the vet. We had a great 20 years, and it was the right thing to do, but it didn't make it any easier.
This is a picture maybe an hour before. Smokey (our pup), could tell something was wrong, and jumped up on the couch and laid next to Ozzie.
So funny what animals can sense.
Ozzie was such a good kitty, he will be so missed.
RIP Ozzie.
