If you like watching birds or have any comments about a cool bird in your yard or something, this would be a good place to discuss anything to do with birds.

Pigeon is still hanging around . Definitely has a band on each leg . Did talk to a couple homing / racing pigeon “experts” & said more than likely that’s what is & I would have to catch it to check the code on the bands to see where it’s from , otherwise they have no interest & said it happens often when they go astray from their course . I won’t be trying to catch it & im sure it’ll move on sooner or later . Pigeon is being called “Eddie” named by a family member .
Eastern Phoebe chicks flew the coop yesterday & started training for a short time before moving on .      🦌

A red-headed woodpecker on my grape jelly, that's unusual

I probably agree as well. Racing pigeon. Maybe your nearby club was doing a race.
My grandpa use to race pigeons all over the state. I recall only the racers being leg banded.
Didn't think that was a thing anymore.

QR codes on bands rather than written notes?! National intelligence?? Jk, jk! Nothing surprises me anymore. Pretty cool, wherever it came from. Wouldn't have noticed the bands without the pic...

First thought was a common pigeon , but would be a first ever at the house . Appears to be somewhat tame & pic I took today can see a band or 2 on its legs . There is a homing pigeon club about 15 miles from here will check with them asap .

Looks like a common barn pigeon but looks arent everything. Could be a homing pigeon or racing pigeon. If you have a long handle fishing net you might be able to snag it and look at the tags.

This pigeon has been hanging around for last couple weeks . Seems domesticated & appears to have 1 or 2 tags on leg(s) , can get within 10 feet of & appears to listen as get closer . Maybe a pet or from a club ? First day saw it was drinking water from sump pump , appeared exhausted . Ground feeds at the bird feeder & see it near the house or at the feeders throughout day .

Squirrel baffle high enough on the pole and keep far enough away from roofs and trees for their jumping abilities. Mineral oil on the pole itself works too

I have one of those camera bird feeders but don’t use it because the squirrels will empty it out 15 minutes after I fill it.
