Anybody own a newer one of these? What do you have to say about it?

To follow up, i did end up getting a 40hp suzuki with the deluxe tiller handle in sept 2024. I love it! No problems so far, awesome motor. Paid around $8k installed at Northern Edge in Land o lakes. They were the best pricing i could find in Wi and they were the highest volume suzuki dealer in the state at that time.
I was considering repowering my 16' Alumacraft rated for a 50 hp tiller and definitely wanted to get a Suzy. I've also heard about how Florida fishermen, especially guides rave about their longevity. They appear to be expensive so I want to be sure before I pull the trigger. I'm thinking around 10k with the newer digital trolling tiller handle.
I don't own a 40, 50 or 60 HP outboard but had a 1999 70 HP Suzuki outboard on a 1775 tiller boat. I had this boat for 20 years, guiding and fishing every chance I had. I am estimating 2000 hours or more. Never one prolem with the outboard. I used top fuel, changed plugs every two years with, gas filter. I changed oil/filter once and sometimes twice a year. Motor pushed my 1240 lb Pro V tiller at 34 - 37 mph with two persons and equiment. It trolled down slow enough to fish planer boards and even live bait. No better engine in my mind I ever owned. Sold the rig after 20 years and now own a Honda 90 HP on a single counsel boat. Honda is a great engine as well but nothing wrong with Suzuki in my experience.
The Captains in Puerto Vallarta run them all day long in much harsher conditions than anything we have to offer.
They claim better dependability by a factor of 2. Average trip of 60 miles per day in salt water, 4 boat fleet. Florida Captains are also going to them regularly.
Good stuff, just a lot less marketing !
PS: I know the motor has a sunscreen cover over it but it's a Suzy!

Epi, I don’t think the Pirate Ships is bigger than 70. Last summer we pulled into the dock and I was talking to Cpt. Steve and I commented on him switching motors. I think he said during the pandemic he was having problems getting parts for his previous motor and went w/ the Suzuki. But I could be wrong, I won’t know til next summer. Will be pulling our pontoon soon.
clueless, that boat has a bigger than 70hp on it. Yes, the Suzuki's are popular up here in the Eagle River/Vilas area. We have the #1 Suzuki dealer in the state located in Land O Lakes. They are who rigged my motor. From drop off to pick up, they had it rigged and lake tested in about 4 hours.
I've been looking at a 15 hp.
My close bud has had one for 7 years with no issues other than annual winterization.
They're a very good product and easy to work on.
