Someone did it. They dragged me kicking and screaming to the land of green slime. But at least I had someone to fish with. On at 9:30, off at 4:30. Water 52 at start, 56 when we left. Died the first 2 hours. Then went to fish gills. Caught a hundred, kept 20 from 8 to 9. They were both gills and sun fish. Then went to fish crappies. We kept 20 from 10 to 13. Most of them were 11s. From now till the 15 of May, its game time. Should I be so kind, why not. How I rig. Small bobber, 20 inches from a number 12 treble hook, any color. 8 inches from hook, tiny split shot. I use the large fat heads from Lake side. We also bought the smaller ones. You never know which ones they want. Today it was the bigger ones.Pard stayed with the small ones. I caught 2 to his one, plus mine ran larger then his. Hooking through the dorsal fin, is always the best, at least for me when your bobber  fishing. Best of luck to all. [email protected]

There’s been probably over a hundred of them over by the outlet for over a week. I’m sure they’re feasting on the little Gills that are in there.

Plenty of crappie out in delavan, however they are not easy to catch, special techniques/bait preseation are usually required.

Pelicans were on the west side of the lake 2 weeks ago. There was a school of baby gills, probably 5 thousand or more, and the pelicans sat in the them feasting.

The Pelicans migrate through Delavan every year. They don’t stay very long and move farther north as the temperatures get warmer. They don’t harm anything and usually stay in the outlet or the north bay by Lake Lawn.

Any crappies? Last two years the crappies have been MIA. What’s with all the pelicans?

Got out yesterday from noon til 4. We caught probably 60+ gills and kept one limit of 7.5 to 9 inchers. Water was 45 when we dropped anchor and 48 when we left. Fished 2-4 fow. Redworms were the bait of choice. Tried plastics with limited success. Looks like next weekend will be even nicer with an opportunity to try other areas.

Tight lines!

Did some open water fishing with the beautiful weather. Mostly pan fished. The gills are so small they could not swallow my hook, all they did was steal my waxie . I couldn't catch one. Green slime and muck building up. Also where i was fishing the weeds were already cresting the water, looks to be a big weed season ahead of us, 10,000 baby gills EVERY WHERE. Future looks good...
