the area is nice and relaxing to fish. The actual Fishing experience is horrible. I've never caught anything but bullheads. The only lure and bait i use that works at the lake is corn. Againg it is a nice park to sit and relax but ithe lake should be drained and restocked.

Well, i have a very mixed review. 1st of all,I have to clear that there are fish in this lake. You can see an occasional trout or coho in the half the farthest away from the water park. I have one big complaint though. The People. I was fishing near the sunken staircase with a spinner and 2 kids came next to me and started shaking tree branches in my face. Then, I was trying near the top half for rainbows and people started shouting at me that the Cubs suck. I guess i should not go there with a cubs hat again hugh? Oh and does anybody know a good place to catch trout in or near (within a half hour of travel) lake county, illinois? Banana lake sucks. Only caught one small rainbow trt there and it has no other fish! Don't mention that one !
