Out doing some scanning and shooting some videos this morning. Surface temp was 60.6°F. Water clarity good in shallower water, in deeper areas where the carp weren't it was pretty good. Some small Gills on a couple of the cribs I checked. Checked on the car that went through the ice in 1964 (going from memory). Story goes guy drove it out there but wouldn't start when he was done fishing so he torched it. Other photo is a large piece of structure, made up of lumber, metal braces and a couple pulleys. One I need to dive on and get some good video of. Note the restrooms (and presumably the cleaning station, I didn't go look) opened on May 1st at Fish Camp. Lot of weeds floating in the water column also.

Late post-

On 5/3/24 I fished the dam at Kegonsa and caught 2 10inch Northern Pike. Nothing huge but they were active.

Out working on yet another project on Kegonsa today. Water temp at 51.7°F. Water clarity not great, really looking forward to the clear water stage! Marked tons of fish in deeper water (smaller amounts around the lake also) close to the bottom. Assuming most Carp and Sheepshead. Bottom all stirred up when I tried to identify some in 25 FOW. Did mark some suspended schools also but with the wind blowing pretty good didn't try to identify them. If they were over structure it would have been worth trying, but suspended over open water they're typically on the move. Few boats out there also. Will wait for things to clear up before heading out there again. Lots of sonar targets to try and identify.

The piers are installed at Fish Camp. I work as the project engineer on the Fish Camp improvements and Lower Yahara River trail project going on there and noticed today they are installed.

Checked out Fish Camp launch yesterday. There's enough open water in the area to put a boat in, but you'd be in the shallower parts of the lake. Finished getting the boat all ready to go, so hopefully we'll get some good wind and it'll open things up more. Wish the county would leave the piers in all year like they used to. Checked at Olbrich on Monona also, it's still locked tight with use but the water levels are very low there. When I get out I'll have the motor trimmed up and use the trolling motor to get to deeper water!

Drove by Lake on West side yesterday pm on Hwy 51. Looks like the lake is pretty much open as far as I could see from the hill. overlooking the lake.

Flathead what's wrong with keeping a tipup in with an alarm on it?  No different than using rattle reels.  The tipups were 10 feet from the shanty and one inside the shanty!
