Wisconsin DNR published new regulations for 2024-2025 fishing season. They are in addition to the normal regulation handbook.  I downloaded them in a pdf file format. Pictures attached. When in doubt always check the at boat landings.

The crappie are moving into the shallows and are in a predictable pre-spawn pattern—fatheads under a bobber with a gold or glow jig have been producing. Some nice cats are mixed in with the crappie.

Good luck on the coming opener. New walleye slots on Lake Holcombe.

Ice: 6"
Fishing was ok late last week but slowed down over the weekend. Did hear some reports of guys getting crappie and bluegill in deeper water. Ice is thining out and probably will be risky to travel by Thursday or Friday.

Ice: 10"
Fished evenings this weekend with some luck, but the bite was slow. Jigging was essential. Glow patterns tipped with a minnow head worked for me. Got few reports from others.  Ice is variable, mostly about 10”

There have been very few if any vehicles on the lake so far. Ice was 6" or more everywhere we were on Sunday, and we did see a few sleds out.
It's been single digits or subzero since, and there is very little snow on the lake. Should be 8-10" of ice by Friday.  Some areas with current were open Sunday morning but are firmed up now. Have seen virtually no one out this week, so there aren't many new reports to share

Be safe

Planning trip to holcombe/pine on Jan 19th. Curious about how well these temps are making ice? We require a quad to transport guy with recent surgery. Any updates appreciated.

Have heard numerous accounts of ice anywhere from 3 to 7 inches depending on where you’re at. Would like to know if anybody’s fishing in sportsman’s park yet

The ice is finally firmed back up on the more sheltered areas of the lake. It should be safe for foot travel in most areas by the weekend. Reports of some nice crappie and a few nice gills from the guys I fish with.
