The DNR has done a great job at making this lake unfishable by boat. They have let so much water out the dam that both access ramps are currently unusable and may remain so for quite some time unless we get some significant rain in the area. Despite this problem the lake has some very nice walleyes, smallmouth and crappie.

Since 2001, my wife and i have enjoyed late afternoon-early evening fishing for crappie on this lake. We very consistently catch a nice mess of 11"-14" fish. The biggest so far being 14 1/4"(she has the biggest) Since we just bought a cabin in the Hawthorne area, we will be looking for a new crappie hole. It will be hard to top this one.

Over the past seven or eight years, my wife and I have spent several weeks each summer fishing lakes in the Drummond area. My wife is a super bass fisher woman, and always out fishes me. This year we tried Drummond Lake for the first time. I was very pleased to find large crappies. We could usually catch about a dozen right before dark. Most were in the 11" - 13" range. My wife may need to find a new bass fishing partner. I love to catch these big crappies on ultra-light gear. She thinks I'm wasteing my time.
