Was your new chain made by the same person that made the chain that cut good? I don't know a lot about what makes a good chain, but I have cut 100's of holes. I've had some that were good and some that were not so good. Lots of people think they make the best chains. The last few chains we have had came from Dave's Engine Repair in FDL. They have cut much better than chain we had made by another small engine shop in the area. Maybe give Dave's a call, they have been good to me.
Help needed with sled saw.
I put a new stihl 41" bar and chain on 4 years ago and only cut 4-6 holes a season. I brought the chain in at the end of last season to have it sharpened and while I was there i had them make a spare chain. I went to cut holes this season and it seamed the chain was binding when cutting and i had to back up a little and then proceed. I also had to slow way down and was taking 2,3 times as long to cut.
The chain was the new one i had made. I did notice it had a bit more wobble from side to side than the old chain. It almost appears the drivers are narrower than the old chain.
I ended up putting the old chain back on and it cut perfect.
Anybody have issues like this? Or a answer for me.

Had this little visitor 3 times on Sunday while sturgeon spearing. He looked to be about 20" and was only 2 to 3 feet down. Very curious fellow and fun to watch. Just need his great-grandmother to come through.

We got our second fish today. 67inches and 71lbs, came in 6 ft down. The first fish was mine on Friday. 57.5inches and only 35.3 lbs. First year we doubled. spent 3 days looking for worms and clear water. worms were hard to find and so was clear water. found a spot I had 10 ft in 19ft of water. it got better with time as I had 12ft yesterday and 11 today due to lack of sun. we dropped off the heads today and will get a letter with all the age info for the fish. We went out of stockbridge. Never moved and had 2 shacks 200 yds apart. Good luck and stay at it. it is getting better every day. Tom
Not a post but a question for all of you out there spearing. My dad is looking for a place to store his shack somewhere near Oshkosh after the season. We will pay a reasonable amount. Please let me know if any of you know of any place.

Got lucky on Valentines day again. This 77 pound 66.5 inch sturgeon came into my heart shaped copper jello mold at 5 feet down. Fishing off quinney in approx. 18 feet water. My last fish was on Valentine's day 2016 when the fish nosed the same heart shaped copper jello mold which I had 9 feet down that year. I kept my hopes up with the poor visibility this year since out of the 8 fish Ive seen over the years, 7 were between 4 and 9 feet down. Ive only seen 1 fish on the bottom..on camera last year.. and missed it. Good Luck to all!
