Also is it safe to take a fourwheeler on the channels, 12 inches on the main lakes doesn't mean the channels are safe always, I know some times those kind of areas don't freeze as well, any info would help, just wanna be safe out there...

We fished longer today from 9:00 till about 3:00. The bite was a little slower for crappies. But we got them steady throughout the day. We spent more time fishing cribs for gills today. A lot of small ones but quite a few that were big enough to fillet. The bigger ones were 8 to 8 1/2 inches.

We found a few crappies in the cribs but most were suspended in the open basin. They ranged from 4 to 12 inches. It's nice to see the different year classes of crappies. That system is a crappie factory!

Dark jigs again today. Tipped with waxies or spikes for gills and glow or black tails for crappies.

We had 3 tip-downs out and never got a bite on them.

We brought home enough for a meal and fried them up for supper. Good stuff!

Made it out for a few hours this afternoon from about 1:00 to 4:00. Caught some decent crappies today. Two of us got about 50. A lot of small gills also. We kept 14 crappies between 9 and 12 inches. Jigs out-fished the tip-downs today about 5 to 1. Dark jigs with glow or black tails. Also got some on small dark spoons tipped with waxies.

Fished Moen today from 11 to 5:30. A mixed bag. Lots of fish but not real big. Got about 40 crappies in the 8 to 9 inch range with a couple 10s, about 20 gills between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 and a few perch, 8" being the biggest. All released. I found a few of the crappies and gills in the cribs. Moved toward the north end and drilled around until I found them. Then it was a steady bite all afternoon until about 5:00, when they quit.

I fished a while last Friday. I got a few smaller crappies along the North end of the lake. Between the inlets and the outlet. Out in 7 - 8 feet of water. Also a few bluegills on a couple cribs in 8 and 9 feet of water. Oh... and one big rock bass. The crappies bit well for a short time while it was snowing and blowing like crazy. That was only for about 15 minutes. Then it was hard to get them to move.

In early august I was up one Moen. I was surprised in the shift in fish we caught. We usually catch gills and crappies, but this year we came up with lots of nice perch and crappies, but few gills. Still big muskies though.

eyelooking,

For northerns try the reed beds in 1st, 4th, and 5th lakes. Weedless jigs may get you some walleyes. I would think that the bluegills would be in the reeds if no northerns are present. If you can find the fish cribs, you should be able to get into panfish. This system contains muskies as well. Cool
