Lake Kegonsa

Checked out Fish Camp launch yesterday. There's enough open water in the area to put a boat in, but you'd be in the shallower parts of the lake. Finished getting the boat all ready to go, so hopefully we'll get some good wind and it'll open things up more. Wish the county would leave the piers in all year like they used to. Checked at Olbrich on Monona also, it's still locked tight with use but the water levels are very low there. When I get out I'll have the motor trimmed up and use the trolling motor to get to deeper water! 

It's not open but is getting pretty dark.

Drove by Lake on West side yesterday pm on Hwy 51. Looks like the lake is pretty much open as far as I could see from the hill. overlooking the lake.

Flathead what's wrong with keeping a tipup in with an alarm on it?  No different than using rattle reels.  The tipups were 10 feet from the shanty and one inside the shanty!

FLM, thanks for the report & pic! That's a nice fish, the dog looks proud of you! Now you are a diehard spending the night out there! Something this old timer did many years ago but no more! Kegonsa is a great lake to fish, that fisharee was always the best! Congrats on the nice fish and thanks for posting!

Fishloveme... you always sleep with flags in?  Kinda dumb to post that lol smh...

I was out there Friday night around 8 pm until Saturday about 1 pm. Very slow for my friend and I. A few drops on a golden shiner for my buddy Friday. Before I got there then a 30 inch pike at 10 at night. Woke up with one of his flags up, took out about 5 feet of line and spit the hook out but got the minnow. About an hour later I landed a 27 inch pike and that was it for us. It was real nice out there and wasn't too cold sleeping out on the ice. 

Locked into a nice northern this morning....fat and full of eggs....32 inches long and at least 15 pounds on 6 to 8 inches of ice. Fishing in 5 to 7 feet of water....

Fisheree for this weekend, the fishing part has been cancelled but they still host the event. I still plan on fishing. Based on what I saw for ice conditions this morning I would NOT ride an atv or any other type of vehicle out there but walking should be fine for tomorrow. Good luck to anyone still planning on fishing tomorrow and good luck in the raffle for those who enter! This is one of my favorite fisherees and there are tons of good prizes every year!
