Mosquito Lake State Park

Boasting Ohio’s third largest man-made lake, Mosquito Lake State Park is an RV destination in northeastern Ohio. Incredible in its variety of wildlife, panoramic landscapes of woodlands and marshes, and lakeside and wooded campgrounds, Mosquito Lake is a quintessence of scenic beauty. Don’t be put off by the satirical name of the park’s namesake, Mosquito Lake. The lake got its amusing name from an ancient water stream called Mosquito Creek that used to flow through the towns of Bazetta and Mecca. Before turning into a dam, Mosquito Creek was a swampland brimming with countless insects, notably mosquitoes.

Two campgrounds are offered for your RV camping pleasure. You can choose to camp in a heavily wooded forest under the shade of hardwood trees or drive your RV towards the lake for a lakeside camping experience. There are full hookup, electric, and non-electric campsites at Mosquito Lake State Park.

A wide array of outdoor activities enhances the charms of camping at Mosquito Lake State Park. You can use the park’s long nature trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Archery and hunting are also quite favored. In winters, skaters, snowmobilers, and skiing enthusiasts take part in their favorite activities at these trails. Fishing and boating are plentiful at the park’s namesake Mosquito Lake. A 600-foot swimming beach is a haven for beachside leisure.

Activities like ice fishing and ice boating will draw you towards the lake even in the biting cold. Four different picnic areas are situated at different scenic locations throughout the park. A picnic shelter on the beach is available for reservations. The park sees the largest number of visitors from April to October due to pleasant weather.
