In-Season
Golfing

If you enjoy golfing, you will surely enjoy this 18-hole, championship 72 par golf course extending over 203 acres of land, and 7005 yards. The sense of competition is high with over 30 sand traps and unique water holes.

It lies off the Brown Road, about eight miles from the park entrance. You can enjoy the golf course from March until November when it's open for the park visitors. There is also a pro shop for you to enjoy a wide range of beverages that goes along with your game.

Snow- Based Activities

During the winter season, when snow covers the terrain and Lake Acton, a wide variety of snow and ice based activities become available to the park visitors. You could try sledding, cross country skiing or ice skating, ice boating or even ice fishing (which gives you that cool vibe about fishing from a small hole in a frozen lake)

Hunting

You can enjoy hunting during the primitive hunting season using an arrow and a cross bow or any other primitive weapons. You may only hunt deer and only during the hunting season and designated areas. Safe zones and no hunting zones should be avoided entirely when hunting.

You can also donate any extra deer meat from your hunt to Timber, the cougar, in the Natural Preserve. To hunt any other species such as raccoon, you need a special permit. However, you are not allowed to hunt any other species besides deer and raccoons.

Off-Season
Swimming

Swimming at the Acton Lake

From sunrise to sunset, you can set your arms free and swim in the 1500 foot shore of the west of Acton lake. You can also find a bathhouse and concession stand at the beach. Whether you are looking for just getting your feet wet or a real swim, you can do it all here. It is often difficult to swim in the winter so this can be most enjoyed in the summer months.

Swimming at the lodge

Boating

You can go boating in the 625-acre Lake Acton. There is one launch ramp available for all boating enthusiasts and and 132 docks available for rental. You can also rent a boat or fuel up at the marina.

If you have your own boat, it should be 10 HP or less. For a motor canoe, it should be 4 HP or less

  • Brachiopods
  • Pelecypods
  • Horn Corals
