Little Sand Point Campground

Little Sand Point Campground is a very basic Adirondack mountain camping site on the northern shore of Piseco Lake, New York. Surrounded by dense hardwood and conifers, the campground is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts looking for hiking, boating, and fishing opportunities.

Established in 1953, the park is the ultimate spot for water lovers and most of the activities are lake-based. With large level campsites right on the edge of the lake or close to it, the park has a sandy beach and boat launch area for motor boats and rowboats a short drive away. Other water sports include fishing, paddle boating, sail boating, canoeing, and kayaking (the latter two are available to rent on-site).

On land there is plenty of challenging hiking trails nearby, including the 133-mile Northville Lake Placid Trail. While there is no beach directly at the campground, there is one nearby that is guarded by lifeguards from mid-June to Labor Day.

Transportation

Driving

Little Sand Point Campground is located off Old Piseco Road off Route 8. Once inside the park, there is a speed limit of 15 kilometers an hour. There are no other driving restrictions but as the campground is surrounded by tall trees, you will have to watch out for low-hanging branches, particularly if you are traveling in a big rig.

Once you’ve set up camp, you can get around on foot or by boat. There is a boat launch area in the park for motor boats and rowing boats. Various hiking trails are available in the vicinity.

Parking lots are available at three points in the park, two near Polar Point and one near Point Comfort. If you’re staying overnight you can park your RV or car in the campground.
