Before the PFBC removed all surface weeds to accommodate the pan fishermen who had trouble getting their bait to the bottom, this lake was a lot of fun to fish using surface lures.
It has lots of large mouth bass and, unusual for an interior lake, some really lunker size small mouths too. I have hooked 20 inchers in there that have towed my canoe 15-20 feet. Small and very powerful fish.
The lake also has quite a population of northern pike from hammer handles (12-18 inch) to some much bigger fish. Now that the weeds have been removed from the surface getting around is much easier but the surface fishing is poor.
I've never done it but I understand the ice fishing can be very good.
