Fished this lake for over 12 years and consistently catch large small mouth bass. Large is about 7lb average is about 14 inches. South arm is hot in the spring and Boyne City area good in weed edge and drop offs in summer.

One of my favorite lakes in the world. Great access with several well developed launches. For cast fishing in the nothern arm large small mouth can be found and walleye rule the south arm. The water is generally gin clear and that makes it tough to fish. There is a fair amount of structure and some weedy cover. In the northern arm the lake is deep and cold and slow to warm-up. Good for trout and gets a nice run of salmon and steelhead in Boyne City river. The south arm is shallower and a bit warmer. This arm is known for it's walleye and also some cold water species. Jordan River in the south arm sees a salmon and steelhead run as well. For small mouths try senkos and lip less cranks. For walleye you will have your most luck at night trolling crawler harness and small minnow crankbaits. See ya on the lake.
