Over-fished due to earlier great fishing successes, but due to invasive seaweed/lily pad and past two years of spraying, the reduced lake water oxygen levels have caused all fish species to go into semi-hibernation during the normal best fishing times. As heavy weed die-off occurs the rotting seaweed utilizes the water oxygen to help in the decaying process. Fish beds are only about 40% of what used to be normal. Even the birds of prey including seagulls are not even fishing these waters as they used to. There are rare occasions when catches of bluegill, sunfish, and perch seem to be great, but this used to be the normal; not now. There is a major concerted effort to get the seaweeds, especially the invasive seaweeds and lily pads under control so expect spraying to continue through 2022. This relatively shallow lake is becoming very heavily invasive seaweed and lily pad infested, choking out the normal lake bottom seaweed vegetation and normal large lily pads that used to hold large populations of bass!!!!
