This is my favorite part of the Rock River. At the dam in downtown Rockford you instantly catch fish in the outlet under the dam. My first cast I got a 8 pound channel. My second a 4 pound drum! You mostly catch small channel catfish, but if you fish off the bottom with a live bluegill you catch huge channel cats and flatheads! Behind the library in downtown Rockford is also good for cats at night using chicken liver or live bluegill!
