Had a hen spend about an hour in front of me with the decoys. A buddy showed up and then they left. I believe one of them came back for a quick visit then was gone. No gobbling has been heard.

First three days of my season was rainy & windy, so didn't venture out. Hunted Monday and Tuesday, perfect weather, no gobbling, no movement, only birds I saw were far away. I hunt marsh and corn stubble field, couple of nice gobblers but wouldn't respond to calls. Did have one hen spend about 20 minutes right in front of me, great live decoy. I have second season starting May 8th don't expect much, but misquotes & ticks.

Caught up with a nice longbeard yesterday morning and had a great, very quick hunt on our farm! Had 5 gobblers roosted on the ridge in our woods and called one into gun range at 5:53am.  25.5#, 1 1/8" spurs and one beard strand that was 14.25" (the rest of his beard was about 11").

Had a good time in SW Wisc. and was able to harvest a decent tom. Challenging weather the first three days with lots of rain and gusty winds but eventually was in the right place/right time. Called two toms in during an afternoon hunt.  Nothing like the Spring turkey woods.

Shot a large jake late yesterday.  Went out with nephew today and had no action  at all.  strange year, almost no action on the gobblers at all.

Shot this turkey yesterday morning, but when I got him home to process and cut him open to find the breastbone broken, and the bottom part of the breast meat a bright green color. I've never seen anything like this before. I thought I could just cut around it, but it continued thru and under the meat, so just tossed it. Not sure if it got hit by a car or what.

Zone 7  Wednessay did not hunt because of all the rain (much needed), 2+ inches. Today hunted 1 1/2 hrs by the house and never heard a gobble. Then went to a dentist appt. Mid morning I hit a state property. Walked in calling w/ no responses. Was setting up to sit a bit when I got a close by gobble. Got a decoy out and situated. Within minutes 2 red heads appeared and eventually worked toward the decoy. Heard 2 more gobbles and drumming from a strutter. He came over the knob and gobbled at 15 yards. Another Jake but I took the shot. 18 1/2 lb w/ 3 1/2“ beard.
Very fun hunt on public lands.

Hunted zone 1 public yesterday, birds seemed pretty quiet. Maybe from the night storms and high winds. Couple close encounters but will try again tomorrow. Seen some birds still flocked up in the area. Did find a nice shed. Good luck all.

Funny what difference a day makes. No turkey's seen on Thursday! I have a good view of the woods at 70 yards, and with the snow on the ground they would really stand out. This happens often especially when my time is up! LOL.
