Saw "Canned Heat' in a club in Milwaukee called "Beneath the Street". Circa 1979.
Club was good size and actually a basement that had a distinct aroma of sewer...
Think it was like 52nd & Fond Du Lac, actually edge of "hood " then. 
Nevertheless, it hosted many bands that were up and coming, or once were and now relegated to 
club status...I mean Canned Heat came to fame at Woodstock. Between acts and after the show, the band would hang by the bar and gratefully accept free drinks us fans were only too happy to buy. 
After the show someone got the bright (maybe not so?) idea to fire up a bowl. Almost on cue, many lit up doobs,
other pipes whatever they had right there at the bar. The"Bear'', "Blind Owl', "Snake", (every guy in that band had a surname) all gleefully joined in. Finally the manager got on PA and threatened to close place down early if the herb ingesting would not cease immediately.. 
Was on my first date with a hottie I worked with. Thought she'd be mortified at the goings on,but she happily joined rite in and raved about that date throughout our time together...That's Rock n Roll for ya

Excellent choice Crappie. “You can make me danc, sing, anything” my all time fav and I never understood why it didn’t do better on charts.
