I wouldn’t doubt if the parking lots at some of the bars down here will be packed with snowmobiles today

I just believe the Climate does change on occasion creating different wind patterns with your High and Low fronts. The Earths magnetic poles have a lot to do with this. Tilt of Axis,….., many more natural events.
JMO, and respect others with different Opinion. It is pretty weird to me though. I left Wisconsin when I was 19 for 20 years. When I came home on vacation, we’d still have ice early, and sometimes late too. These last couple years have been different, but don’t think it will last forever. Some do. No biggy.

Heck...you can almost do both at the same time too.  Tiefsa posted a video of paddling out in his kayak, breaking some ice along the way.  Then busting a hole in the ice with his kayak paddle, jig fishing through the ice hole with an open water rod and caught a pike.

That's the great thing about the diverse opportunities in Wisconsin.  The "down south" area spans 140 miles from its northern border to its southern border.  You can experience great ice fishing now "down south" and you can open water fish too.

There's definitely plenty of ice fishing taking place down south.  It just depends whether you are on the "northern zone" of down south or the "southern zone" of down south.

No ice Fishing down south due to having no ice. Just cold enough to be annoying but not ice making.

Echo lake is only 3’ deep but under that 20’ of muck lol.    It should be very good after they drain and dredge it.
