Altoona Family Restaurant on 12 in Altoona is always good. Usually a crowd there most of the time. Be prepared to ask for a box for take home. VFW on Starr Ave in Eau Claire has several good breakfasts that are reasonable and free coffee for veterans.

Agree with Killroy. Good place. Further up 53, in Rice Lake...Norski Nook. (1st RL exit towards town on your right) easy off and on to 53. Safe trip.
