If you like watching birds or have any comments about a cool bird in your yard or something, this would be a good place to discuss anything to do with birds.

Orioles, hummingbirds, and rose breasted grossbeak are usually May 3rd where I live.  Will start feeding 5 days before.  Almost clockwork to the day when they return.  Maybe some of you live where they return a day earlier-but probably not much.

No pictures but saw rafts of whistlers on the river on the way home this morning and an eagle that apparently didn't want duck for breakfast.

You can see on the top of the pic, hooded Orioles were here on May 9 for sure but I think there were a couple weeks earlier before I could get a photo of them.

A few from today....

Great Egret and a Tricolored Heron.  Then I was fortunate to find a Purple Gallinule.  Such a beautiful bird.  Super large feet and walks across the tops of the floating vegetation.

Easter Bluebird showed up at my house yesterday. I love those little birds! I usually have two bird houses that the bluebirds pick each year. And I bring out the mealworms

Carpio,
I was in Babcock-Webb State Wildlife Management Area in Charlotte County, FL when I saw the Swallow-tailed Kite.

Musky.  Where did you see that?    Yesterday I saw a similar bird unlike any I’ve seen before.   It was dark with white under its wings.  It flew like a Night Hawk but was larger.

Today I saw what some call "the coolest bird on the planet", the Swallow-tailed Kite.  The one I saw kept 150 yards in front of me, constantly twisting, turning, diving, reversing direction, etc., while it was hunting.  I couldn't keep it in the view finder long enough to get a pic.  Lol.  It was neat to see though.

File photo off the internet.
