What is the best bottom coat everyone is using? My boat will be sitting in a slip net year in Lake Michigan and would like to take care of this before storage this year.

With your boat having never been bottom painted before a barrier coat is STRONGLY recommended to prevent water from being absorbed through the gel goat and into the hull. I would recommend you put your boat in the water yet this fall to mark the waterline with a normal load aboard so you know how high to run your barrier coat and bottom paint over the winter months if your in heated storage. West Marine has a great tutorial on line that is worth the 20 minutes to watch, listen, and learn. Properly preparing your boat can prevent many future problems. West Marine DIY Bottom Painting
