trolling motor wiring extension

I'd like to move my 12 volt minkota battery up to the mid section of the boat. What gauge wire should I use? Looking at the factory cables coming out of the unit, I would guess them to be size 10 but I don't want to screw this up. Your help is appreciated!

or google Minn Kota and go to frequently asked questions, there it will tell you the formula to use for wiring, it depends on how long the wiring is.... again, wish I knew how to add the link, it looked like a pretty easy way to figure it out.
