Tackle Box
3/6/12 @ 3:30 PM
I want to make a shore fishing tackle box. I would mainly be shore fishing on the Winnebago System and possibly a time or two in DePere. Any recommendations of what to put in it? I have some experience fishing these bodies of water from a boat, but none from shore. I lost access to the boat and all the equipment in the "break-up", so I will be starting from scratch. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Mom

Think about getting a fly fishing vest or even a turkey hunting vest or other with lot of big pockets to put plastic bait boxes, pliers, nippers, small net hanging on bungee behind your back, big plastic zipper bag in the large rear pocket to carry fish and, all the other stuff you need. Too much trouble to carry things when you are fishing. Sure as heck know when you need something out of the box,,,,you left it "wayyyy over there". Keep yur hands free for the fishing rod and maybe a bucket or campstool, rod holders etc.. On a smaller scale, there are various sizes of fannypacks you can put small lure bozes in and livebait (worm) containers that hang on belt also.
Hello mom2three! I just wanted to share the word about an awesome fishing club in Wisconsin. Not sure if you've heard about it, but oh boy, it's awesome! Check it out on Facebook. Seach WI Women Fish. You will find us, and many members can help you with your quest for info
Me included, but I know there are a few others that would have more experience fishing that area.
It depends on what species of fish you will be targeting first of all, for general fishing you will need a variety of bobbers including several sizes like slip bobbers, spring bobbers and such along with different sizes of hooks and sinkers. For panfish theres a wide variety of smaller jigs and rubber baits that work great like gulp, along with worms etc. for cats theres always "stink" baits that are handy to have in the fridge. and for walleye keep several sizes of jigs and casting lures available for when the eyes are hungry, there are so many types of lures out there, just try to use whatever you were catching them on before the "breakup" and you should do just fine, my wife likes to fish also so maybe when your ready to hit the water give us a message and see if she want's to hookup with you and go catch some fish. she has the the gear and skills she needs so catching fish should not be a problem.
