Anyone notice the habitat that they ruined to make a horse trail? I was out there last weekend and ran into the DNR idiots only to find out they cleared an entire treeline that was excellent small game habitat for a horse trail when they could have made the trail in either field that the treeline separated. They went on to tell me that it is a more scenic trail down trough the treeline instead of next to it! This is the same DNR that complains they have no money, yet they have heavy equipment out there clearing treelines and working on a Saturday, which with state workers I'm guessing is overtime. Also notice the damage they did to the post hole digger putting in the horse trail markers. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for trails but ruining habitat when there are already about 5 miles of trails and could have easily made the trail next to the treeline is just asinine to me. i don't have anything at all against horses (i'd love to have one or two myself, to be honest) but it is truly amazing how much they rip the heck out of the ground just walking through. especially the sandier soils up north.
